Azure Grant has a diverse work experience in various roles and companies. Azure started their career as a Lab Assistant at California State University, Chico in 2012. Azure then worked as a MCB Tissue Culture and Kaufer Lab Undergraduate Researcher at UC Berkeley in 2014. In 2013, they served as an Usher Captain at Cal Performances.
From 2014 to 2017, Azure worked as a Research Assistant in the Kriegsfeld Lab. In 2018, they joined the Helen Wills Neuroscience Institute at UC Berkeley as a PhD Student, where they focused on using wearable and implantable devices to study reproductive, metabolic, and autonomic networks across the female lifespan. Azure also worked on signal processing of neuroendocrine and peripheral biometric data.
In 2017, Azure worked as an Editor and Associate Editor at The Quantified Self. In 2021, they started their own consulting firm called Mairan Consulting, where they provided research design, strategy, and science communication services to startups in wearable devices, women's health, citizen science, education, and biological rhythms.
Azure had multiple roles in 2021. Azure worked as a Consultant/Research Director at Prima-Temp, where they focused on developing tools using core body temperature signal for monitoring female reproductive function. Azure also worked as a Scientist-In-Residence at Crescent Health, where they developed tools and educational materials for interpreting wearable data, sleep, and rhythmic physiology. Additionally, Azure worked as a Research Design Lead at Levels, an app that provides real-time feedback on how diet and lifestyle choices impact metabolic health based on continuous glucose monitor data.

Azure Grant earned an Honors B.A. degree in Molecular & Cell Biology, with a focus on Neurobiology, from the University of California, Berkeley. This degree was obtained between 2013 and 2017. Subsequently, Azure pursued a higher level of education at the same institution, where they completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Neuroscience, with a specialization in Endocrinology, Network Physiology, and Biological Rhythms/Timeseries Analysis. This PhD program lasted from 2018 to 2021.
