Yi Yang

Yi Yang is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in natural language processing (NLP) and artificial intelligence. Currently serving as the Director of NLP at ASAPP since May 2022, Yi manages a team of approximately 15 researchers and engineers focused on semantic understanding, text generation, summarization, and large language models. Prior roles at ASAPP included Senior NLP Manager and NLP Manager, where responsibilities covered core ML/NLP library development and dialogue systems. Yi's previous experience includes a position as Senior Research Scientist at Bloomberg LP, leading initiatives in information extraction and Chinese NLP, as well as research roles at Georgia Institute of Technology and internships at Microsoft and Amazon. Yi holds a PhD in Computer Science from Georgia Institute of Technology and a BS in Software Engineering from Beihang University.
