Shawn Ellis

Shawn Ellis, MBA, CISSP, CISM has a diverse work experience spanning over 25 years. Shawn has held multiple senior leadership positions in various organizations. Currently, as the Chief Information Officer at Priority Technology Holdings, Inc., they are responsible for technology strategy and operations globally. Shawn successfully directed a systems migration to AWS infrastructure, resulting in significant transaction volume growth.

Prior to this, Shawn served as the Chief Information Security Officer at BBVA in the USA, where they led a global technology organization and directed enterprise technology strategy. Shawn played a crucial role in migrating systems to AWS S3 while ensuring security controls and architecture patterns were in place to protect sensitive data.

Shawn also has experience in the education sector, having worked as the Chief Technology Officer at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the Associate Chief Information Officer at the University of Georgia. In these roles, they led teams and implemented infrastructure enhancements, such as network bandwidth upgrades, firewall implementations, and cloud storage solutions.

Earlier in their career, Shawn held positions at Raymond James Financial, Tandel Systems, Home Shopping Network Inc., Metro Information Systems, The University of Georgia, and On-Line Instrument Systems, Inc. Shawn contributed to information security, software development, and system engineering projects during these early years.

In addition to their formal education, Shawn has obtained several certifications including the Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) from ISACA in 2008, the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from (ISC)² in 2007, and the Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) from Microsoft in 1997.
