Roy Smith

Roy Smith has a long history of successful business leadership. Roy began their career in 1985 as a co-founder and president of Turtle Beach Systems, a top gaming sound card and headset manufacturing brand. During their time there, Smith was responsible for growing the company from $0 to $15M in annual sales across 35 countries with 65 talented employees. Roy provided the marketing vision and strategic direction that established the company's reputation as a leader in its class. In 2002, Smith became the President of Livewire International, a company providing turnkey kiosk solutions. Roy was brought on to turn around the company, which was nearly killed by the events of 9/11. Roy was responsible for renegotiating/eliminating two toxic business relationships, helping build a successful program to sell ski lift tickets in Denver, CO, and establishing several tertiary off-season businesses. In 2004, Smith became the VP of Marketing for Nomadio, a startup that introduced a disruptive new technology into the military robotics and radio controlled hobby markets. Roy was responsible for the company's name, logo, voice, market positioning, packaging, advertising, customer touch-points, trade shows, and Web presence. Roy also administrated Nomadio's worldwide sales organization and successfully took the company's product from 0 to a market leading position in the radio controlled market within 2 years. In 2006, Smith co-founded appMobi, a mobile app development startup, and served as the VP of Marketing. In 2009, FlyCast acquired the appMobi brand, and appMobi went on to become the leading cross platform mobile app development tool based on HTML5. In 2013, Smith founded AgeCheq and Vigneo. At AgeCheq, they created a complete "child privacy compliance ecosystem" that served the needs of both app developers and parents. At Vigneo, they disrupted the market for short, animated "Explainer" videos. In 2014, Smith became the CEO of PrivacyCheq, a company that leads the industry with innovative technology solutions covering the intersection of privacy and mobile/autonomous devices. In 2020, they became a Strategic Advisor at AdvisoryCloud, offering enterprises experienced advice on Privacy Management, Compliance, Strategy, User Experience, Trust Building, Capital Formation, and Entrepreneurial Ventures.

Roy Smith attended York Country Day School from 1965 to 1976. Roy then attended Ithaca College from 1978 to 1979, studying Economics.
