Pro Silva is a European network of public and private forest managers, owners and workers, as well as scientists, ecologists, educators and practicioners who share common intersts in close-to-nature forestry according to Pro Silva principles. 
We promote a holistic and integrated forest management approach that makes use of the creative forests of nature, maintains diverse and irregular forest structures, and strengthens long-term forest resilience. This approach supports the sustainable timber production while safeguarding biodiversity and the multiple ecological, economic and social functions of forests. 
Since 1989, Pro Silva has built its credibility on practical experience from the field. Through our network of exemplary forests, reference stands and training sites, we try to demonstrate that close-to-nature forestry is a viable and successful appraoch across different forest types and contexts in Europe. 
Our activities focus on :
