Karl Kruuse

Karl Kruuse has extensive work experience in the field of data engineering and software development. Karl has worked as a Data Engineer at Proekspert AS since 2023, where they are responsible for data engineering tasks. Prior to this, they worked at Nortal from 2022 to 2023 as a Data Engineer, where they provided end-to-end data solutions to clients and utilized technologies such as Python, Gitlab, and Snowflake. From 2020 to 2022, they worked at STACC as a Data Engineer, developing and maintaining machine learning solutions for various clients, utilizing technologies such as Python, Bitbucket CI/CD, and AWS.

Before this, Karl worked as a DWH Developer at IPF Digital from 2019 to 2020, where they developed and implemented automated data processing and data quality check tools. From 2014 to 2019, they worked at Dunestep as a Software Engineer, where they worked on various data warehouse projects in the fields of online gaming, telecommunications, and banking.

Karl also has experience as a Software Engineer/Architect at the University of Tartu and as a Full Stack Developer/BI Developer at CEFCA. At the University of Tartu, they were a member of the core team responsible for building a prototype for Chromatography method validation and at CEFCA, they participated in a collaboration project developing a web application to check data integrity in telescope pipeline data.

In addition, Karl has experience in the aerospace industry, having worked at the Estonian Student Satellite Foundation (ESTCube) as the Star Tracker Team Leader and as a team member in the Attitude and Orbit Control Subsystem. At ESTCube, they designed and led a team responsible for producing an attitude determination algorithm for the ESTCube-2 star tracker.

Earlier in their career, Karl worked as a Reporting Specialist at the University of Tartu and at Playtech where they implemented and managed data loadings from university systems to data warehouse and worked as a reporting specialist respectively.

Karl Kruuse has a Bachelor's Degree in Informatics from the University of Tartu, which they obtained from 2006 to 2014. Before attending university, they completed their secondary education at Hugo Treffneri Gümnaasium from 2003 to 2006. In addition to their formal education, Karl has obtained several certifications. These include a certification in Machine Learning from Coursera that they received in February 2021, as well as certifications in various programming topics such as Functional Programming in Scala, Big Data Analysis with Scala and Spark, Parallel programming, Functional Program Design in Scala, and Functional Programming Principles in Scala, all obtained between 2018 and 2019 from Coursera Course Certificates.
