Stephen Nayfach

Stephen Nayfach is currently the Head of Bioinformatics at Profluent Bio. They previously served as a Computational Biology Consultant at Pragma Bio and Felix Biotechnology, where they mined bacterial genomes and uncovered virus-host interactions. Their experience includes roles as a Bioinformatics Research Scientist and Career Research Scientist at the Joint Genome Institute, and as a Graduate Student Researcher at the University of California, San Francisco, where they pioneered methods to study the human gut microbiome. Stephen began their research career as a Post-baccalaureate Research Fellow at the National Institute of Mental Health, focusing on genetic variants associated with schizophrenia.
