John Snelson is a seasoned software engineer currently serving as a Fellow at Progress since February 2023, following the acquisition of MarkLogic. With a tenure at MarkLogic from June 2010 to April 2023, John held multiple leadership roles, including Director of Technology and Distinguished Engineer, overseeing the Product Architecture Team and leading the Query team responsible for SQL, SPARQL, and the relational query engine. Prior to MarkLogic, John worked at Oracle Corp from July 2006 to June 2010 as a Principal Software Engineer, contributing to the enhancement of the Berkeley DB XML database. John's earlier experience includes a Technical Lead position at Parthenon Computing and a Software Engineer role at Decisionsoft. John earned a Bachelor of Arts in Computation from the University of Oxford between 1999 and 2002.
