Chris Sharp is currently a Unity Engineer at Project Archer. Chris was previously employed at Nordstrom as a Principal Engineer from April 2017 to February 2018. There, they were responsible for investigating the application of Computer Vision and Machine Learning to the Nordstrom retail shopping experience, as well as researching the use of Convolutional Neural Networks for object and garment detection.
From March 2011 to February 2017, Chris Sharp worked as a Senior Staff Software Engineer at The Walt Disney Company. During their time there, they were involved in the architecture and engineering of all releases of the Club Penguin Online World for iOS and Android, from proof-of-concept to the 1.6.10 release. Chris also led and participated in the design and development of Club Penguin's Puffle Wild, a popular match-3 game written in C++/Obj-C and openGL. Puffle Wild introduced new characters to Club Penguin, drove subscriptions, and improved retention.
Chris Sharp has also overseen the implementation of several gaming systems and App services, including In App Purchasing, Leaderboards, Game Center, Advertising, Analytics, Crash Reporting, GooglePlay, and Apple services. Additionally, they have developed low level openGL and C++ game code for sprite animations, an internal custom APNG format for layered and tinted 2D full-screen animations, and custom game UI transitions, gestures and effects.
Chris Sharp is a computer scientist and classical pianist who attended the University at Albany. Chris majored in computer science and minored in classical piano.
Chris Sharp reports to Sujay Sahni, Head of Engineering. They work with Andy Yoder - Engineering Director, Allen Richter - Senior Unity Engineer, and Sam Baker - Senior Unity Engineer.
