Luis Varela

Luis Varela is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in manufacturing and process improvement. Currently serving as Competitiveness Manager for Prolec GE since December 2004, Luis focuses on enhancing competitiveness within the transformers industry, implementing regulatory frameworks, and driving operational excellence. Previous roles include Innovation Leader and Manufacturing Specialist at Prolec GE, where responsibilities involved overseeing innovation models and applying Lean & TPS principles for continuous improvement. Prior to this, Luis held the position of Head of Engineering at LG.Philips LCD, leading product manufacturing and process enhancements, and managed the lixiviation plant at Met-Mex Peñoles, ensuring compliance with quality standards. Luis holds a Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology from Instituto Tecnológico de La Laguna.
