Gunnar Símonarson has worked in various roles in the scientific field since 2008. Gunnar began their career as a Project Manager at Innovation Center Iceland, where they were responsible for emission and environmental measurements for industrial clients. In 2013, they worked as a Visiting Researcher at UC Santa Barbara. From 2014-2020, Gunnar worked at Chalmers tekniska högskola as a PhD Student Material Science, where they developed spray coating synthesis methods for mesoordered titania and silica films, investigated the selective formation of titania crystal structures, and characterized the structure of titania and silica nanoparticles and films with various techniques. Currently, they are a Senior Scientist and Scientist at Promimic.
Gunnar Símonarson has a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Materials Science from Chalmers University of Technology, which they obtained in 2019. Prior to that, they earned a Master's degree in Materials Chemistry from Chalmers University of Technology in 2014. Gunnar also holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Háskóli Íslands, which they obtained in 2008. Additionally, Gunnar has obtained two certifications: Basic training (XLPM) for Project Managers from Semcon in 2021, and Good Manufacturing Practice from Svensk Medicin AB in 2020.
