Mark Dykstra has a diverse work experience spanning different roles in the healthcare industry. Mark began their career as a Nutrition Services Worker and then transitioned to become a Patient Care Technician at Pella Regional Health Center from June 2013 to June 2016. Mark also worked as an Emergency Medical Technician at Pella Community Ambulance from June 2013 to May 2018, providing compassionate care to ill and injured patients in various settings.
In October 2017, Mark joined WesleyLife as a Long-Term Care Nurse, where they managed CNAs and housekeepers to ensure excellent resident care. Mark conducted accurate and thorough assessments of residents and contributed to the daily functioning of the nursing home/skilled care facility.
Starting in October 2017 and continuing until May 2018, Mark also worked as a Critical Care Nurse at UnityPoint Health. In this role, they prioritized nursing care for critically ill patients and provided advocacy, emotional support, and emergency interventions as needed.
From September 2018 to June 2019, Mark took on the role of a Triage Nurse at Pella Regional Health Center. Following that, they became a Clinical Systems Analyst, starting in June 2019 until November 2022. As a Clinical Systems Analyst, they facilitated the upgrade of MEDITECH Expanse for ambulatory providers/nurses and played a crucial role in implementing virtual visit functionality for clinic providers during the pandemic. Additionally, Mark worked as a project manager on various quality/workflow improvement projects.
Most recently, as of November 2022, Mark is employed as a Project Manager at Prominence Advisors.
Mark Dykstra's education history includes obtaining a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of Iowa, from 2020 to 2022. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree in Nursing Science from Allen College, from 2016 to 2017. Before pursuing their nursing degree, Mark also obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Biology, with a focus on General Biology, from Central College, from 2014 to 2016.
In addition to their formal education, Mark Dykstra also holds a certification as a Registered Nurse, which was obtained from the Iowa Board of Nursing in August 2017.
