Michael D'Angelo

Michael D'Angelo is a seasoned technology leader with extensive experience in engineering and machine learning. As Co-Founder and CTO of Promptfoo since July 2024, Michael focuses on mitigating LLM risks in production through automated red-teaming and vulnerability analysis. Previously, Michael served as VP of Engineering and Head of Machine Learning at Smile Identity, where contributions helped over 160 million people access financial services via innovative machine learning APIs. Michael's tenure at Arthena included roles as Co-Founder and CTO, focusing on developing quantitative strategies for fine art investment. Additional experience includes founding Matroid, Inc., interning at Planet and Planetary Resources, and working at Facebook as an Engineering Intern. Michael holds a Master of Science in Computational and Mathematical Engineering from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering from the University at Buffalo.
