Gregory Shapiro

Gregory Shapiro is a seasoned technology executive with extensive experience in messaging, cloud technologies, and open-source development. Currently serving as Chief Technology Officer for Messaging at Proofpoint since October 2013, Shapiro has also been a Developer and Committer for The FreeBSD Project since July 2000. With roots in the Sendmail Consortium dating back to December 1996, Shapiro has contributed significantly to the development of open-source sendmail. Gregory's previous roles at Sendmail, Inc. included various leadership positions such as VP of Cloud Enablement and CTO, where responsibilities encompassed shaping the company's cloud strategy and integrating services with existing infrastructures. Shapiro holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where Gregory also served as Senior UNIX Systems Administrator prior to their involvement in the technology industry.
