John Bakewell

John Bakewell is a seasoned technology professional with extensive experience in engineering leadership and product development. Currently serving as Sr. Director of Engineering at Proofpoint since July 2013, John has played a pivotal role in the creation of Proofpoint Essentials, a cloud email security solution for SMBs. Prior to this, John held the position of VP Engineering at Quantus, driving technology solutions for the Capital Markets and Casino and Gaming industries. John’s career also includes significant roles at NYSE Technologies as Head of Reference Architecture, overseeing market data technologies, and Wombat Financial Software as Head of Feed Handler Development. John began the professional journey as a Software Engineer at Nortel Networks and has also worked as a Software Development Contractor. John earned a degree from Queen's University Belfast from 1991 to 1994.
