Proper Placement Studio is an education-focused platform dedicated to sharing clear, real-world knowledge about art handling, installation, packing, and placement.

Founded by James Geisen, with 26 years of experience working with artists, galleries, museums, designers, collectors, and institutions across the U.S., PPS exists to make professional standards more accessible and understandable — especially in situations where mistakes can be costly or irreversible.

The studio’s work focuses on explaining not just how things are done, but why professional decisions matter. Most content is offered freely through video-based education, with an emphasis on tested methods, thoughtful risk assessment, and respect for the artwork.

Proper Placement Studio may collaborate with brands or partners whose tools, materials, or practices meet professional standards. Education, transparency, and long-term thinking come first.
