Corey Johnson

Corey Johnson is an experienced investigative reporter with a strong background in journalism, focusing on issues related to criminal justice, governmental oversight, and higher education. Currently employed at ProPublica since May 2022, Corey previously worked at the Tampa Bay Times from January 2017 to May 2022, and at The Marshall Project from November 2014 to November 2016, where investigative work highlighted systemic problems and innovative practices. Prior experience includes a role as a government reporter at The Center for Investigative Reporting from September 2009 to November 2014, specializing in watchdog reporting on governmental issues in California. Corey's career also features reporting on higher education at The Fayetteville Observer and police reporting at the Greenville Daily Reflector. Corey holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in African-American History from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University.
