Daniel Petty is currently the Director of Audience Strategy at ProPublica. Prior to this, they were a Digital Media Consultant with the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) from April 2021 to September 2021. In this role, they were responsible for building out membership and consumer revenue efforts at Vlast.kz.
From July 2017 to September 2019, Daniel Petty was a Consultant with the U.S. Department of State. In this role, they assessed strategic and business needs for digital and television news organizations as part of a consulting grant with the U.S. Embassy in Nur-Sultan (Astana) and Almaty, Kazakhstan. Daniel also worked to develop business best practices in a country with an underdeveloped media and advertising environment.

Petty began their career in journalism as the Regional Engagement Editor with Digital First Media from February 2012 to April 2014. Daniel then went on to serve as the Senior Editor with The Denver Post from June 2009 to April 2017.
