Sergio Hernandez

Sergio Hernandez is a seasoned journalist and developer with extensive experience in data journalism and newsroom collaboration. Currently serving as a News Apps Developer at ProPublica since August 2022, Sergio has previously held the role of Data Editor at CNN from July 2016 to July 2022, where responsibilities included advising editors and reporters on data journalism best practices and conducting training workshops. Prior roles at CNN included Investigative Reporter and Producer, where significant contributions were made to major investigative projects. Sergio has also worked as a U.S. & World Reporter at Mashable, Senior Editor for Business and Technology at The Week, and contributed to ProPublica in various capacities, including a notable investigation into state criminal prosecutions.
