Gali Arad

Head of Systems Biology at Protai

Gali Arad is a computational biologist who currently works at Protai. Gali has a wealth of experience in the field, having worked as a teaching assistant, PhD research student, and scientific advisor in the past. In their current role, they apply cutting edge proteomic technologies to empower drug discovery.

Arad’s journey in the field of biology began when they were a teaching assistant at Tel Aviv University, where they taught medical students the basics of genetics and molecular biology. Gali then went on to lead the departmental team of teaching assistants.

Arad’s PhD research focused on using mass spectrometry-based proteomics and proteogenomics to study cancer heterogeneity in breast cancer and glioblastoma. This work was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Tamar Geiger. During their time as a PhD student, Arad also gained experience in performing full stack proteomics projects from sample collection to data analysis and biological insights.

After completing their PhD, Arad took on the role of scientific advisor at The Ramon Foundation. In this role, they provided scientific support to teenagers planning experiments as part of the SpaceLab educational program.

Arad then transitioned into the industry, taking on the role of technical support engineer at Office of the Prime Minister of Israel. In this role, they provided technical support to the prime minister and their team. After 2 years in this role, Arad was promoted to project manager & analyst at Unit 8200 - Israeli Intelligence Corps, where they managed projects and provided analysis for the intelligence team.

After 5 years in this role, Arad transitioned to their current role as computational biologist at Protai. In this role, they apply cutting edge proteomic technologies to empower drug discovery.

Gali Arad has a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Tel Aviv University, where they also completed their Master of Science in the same field. Her undergraduate degree is in Biology and Psychology from Tel Aviv University.
