Walid Moustafa

Walid Moustafa has a diverse work experience ranging from ML Engineering to Natural Language Processing Engineering to Computer Vision Engineering. In 2021, they began working at Proteinea as an ML Engineer where they are responsible for developing, deploying, and monitoring the code that drives their Protein Engineering Platform (PEP). Walid also researches and writes deep learning software that designs and evaluates denovo proteins. In 2020, they worked at Alkhwarizmi.io as a Natural Language Processing Engineer where they developed a Part-of-Speech tagging system and implemented refactored versions of their machine learning and messaging back-end software in C++. In 2019, they worked as a Computer Vision Engineer (Freelancer) at Upwork and as a Natural Language Processing Engineer at Wuzzuf where they created a prototype for a CV-parser. In 2018, they were the Academic Committee Head (Student Union High-board) at Zewail City of Science and Technology where they managed a team of 32 representatives and laid down the system for schedule setup. Walid also worked as a Research Intern (OneLab) at Cairo University where they worked on analytical mathematical modelling of communication systems and numerical result calculations. In 2016, they were a SJB Member and Junior TA - Intro to CS Course at Zewail City of Science and Technology. Walid was one of five elected members from the student body to represent students in their Student Judicial Board and they also created original content for exam-review and helped several students with their course projects.

Walid Moustafa obtained a Bachelor's degree in Communication and Information Engineering from Zewail City of Science and Technology between 2015 and 2020. In May 2020, they also obtained a certification in Neural Networks and Deep Learning from Coursera.
