Terry G.

VP Spacecraft Systems Engineering at Proteus Space, Inc.

Terry G. has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. They began their career as a Software Engineer at Northwestern University in 2006. Terry then transitioned into a role as an Undergraduate Researcher at Northwestern University, where they worked from 2007 to 2009.

In 2010, Terry pursued a PhD in Aeronautics at the California Institute of Technology, focusing on thin and flexible materials with negative and near-zero thermal expansion. During this time, they also served as a Keck Institute for Space Studies (KISS) Fellow and worked on optical elements for the space environment.

Following their PhD, Terry joined Exponent in 2013 as a Senior Associate, specializing in engineering failure analysis for industries such as energy, mining, electronics, and aerospace. Their work involved analyzing complex thermo-mechanical systems and implementing redesigns to enhance operational lifetime and failure resiliency. They also gained experience in in-field engineering in processing plants and underground mining.

In 2015, Terry joined I AM Sports & Entertainment as the Director of Technology, a role they held until 2016.

Terry then joined Caltech in 2016 as a Research Scientist, where they focused on ultralight deployable technologies for space solar power. They were involved in the design, fabrication, assembly, integration, and testing of the DOLCE mission from lab concept to launch. In 2020, they were promoted to the role of Principal Scientist, a position they held until 2023.

Most recently, Terry joined Proteus Space, Inc. as the VP of Spacecraft Systems Engineering in 2023.

Terry G. began their education in 1999 at Roycemore, where they obtained their High School Diploma in 2005. Following this, they attended Northwestern University from 2005 to 2009, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science. In 2009, Terry pursued further education at Caltech, obtaining a Master of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering in 2010. They then continued at Caltech for their PhD in Aeronautics from 2010 to 2013.
