Eric Ebner

Interim Chief Executive Officer at Protocol 46

Eric Ebner has a long and varied work experience in the fields of cybersecurity and technology. From 2002 to 2018, they worked as an independent consultant for Ebner Innovations, providing management and support of computer networks, websites, databases, email, and application servers. From 2007 to 2015, they worked at AAI Corporation as a Test Pilot for the RQ-7B Unmanned Aerial System, responsible for acceptance and flight envelop development test flights of all system end items prior to sale to the Department of Defense. From 2013 to 2018, they worked at the Midwest Reliability Organization as a CIP Audit Specialist, conducting comprehensive compliance audits of Bulk Electric System (BES) electrical utilities in order to assess compliance to Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Standards that relate to Cyber Security. From 2013 to 2015, they worked at InfraGard Minnesota as the Intelligence Committee Chair, facilitating and leading the efforts of the committee by aligning it with the InfraGard chapter meeting topic schedule. From 2018 to present, they have been a Board Member for the MN Cyber Advisory Board, working to position Minnesota among the top-ten leading states in cybersecurity. Additionally, from 1995 to 2015, they worked for the Minnesota Army National Guard in various roles, including Intelligence Analyst, Unmanned Aerial System Operator, and Infantry Squad Leader. From 2015 to 2018, they worked at Protocol 46 Cybersecurity as both the Interim Chief Executive Officer and Chief Technical Officer, providing leadership, vision, and oversight during a transformation from technology startup to Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP).

Eric Ebner attended the University of Minnesota Duluth from 1996 to 1998, studying Computer Science. In 2010, they enrolled in Capella University, where they studied Computer and Information Systems Security/Information Assurance (NSA Accredited) until 2013. In May 2021, they obtained a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate from USF Corporate Training and Professional Education.
