Dr. Philipp Amend currently serves as the 3DP Operations Director PZB and Director of Engineering at Protolabs, a role held since April 2022, after previously functioning as Manager of Process Engineering & Technical Service and Senior Process Engineer at the same company from April 2017 to March 2022. Prior to Protolabs, Dr. Amend worked at Bayerisches Laserzentrum GmbH from October 2009 to March 2017 as Gruppenleiter, leading innovation research projects in laser-based joining technology and additive manufacturing, and gained experience as a Projektingenieur. Dr. Amend's early career included internships and student positions at various companies, including Alfmeier AG and Mechanik Center GmbH. Dr. Amend holds a Diplom-Ingenieur and a Dr.-Ing. in Mechanical Engineering from FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, completed between 2003 and 2009.
