Michael Matishak has held various positions in the finance industry since 2003. From 2006 to 2007, they were the Chief Financial Officer of Peace River Oil and Red Rock Energy Inc. During this time, they were responsible for fund raising, financial reporting, cash flow projections, forecasting, reconciliation of working capital calculations, and administration. From 2007 to 2015, they were the Chief Financial Officer of Brasoil do Brasil, where they were responsible for economic modeling, fund raising, financial reporting, operations & cash flow projections, and administration. Michael also ad-hoc managed data rooms for due diligence connected to company-led equity sale processes. From 2015 to 2018, they were a Senior Project Consultant Finance for PwC, where they performed finance projects for clients and was a Senior Finance Officer for Alberta crown agency promoting energy efficiency programs. From 2018 to 2020, they were the Senior Finance Officer for Energy Efficiency Alberta, where they maintained the financial records and implemented Microsoft Business Central as the agency's accounting system. From 2020 to 2022, they were the Vice President Finance for Invest Alberta, where they implemented and maintained financial systems, managed financial resources, implemented and improved systems of internal controls, prepared budgets and forecasts, and generated relevant financial reports. Since 2019, they have been the Chief Financial Officer of Emerging Equities Inc., where they are responsible for preparation of cash flow forecasts, monitoring of risk adjusted capital (RAC) position, preparation and filing of Monthly Financial Reports (MFR), preparation and filing of annual audited Form1, management and operation of accounting systems (Quickbooks), management of payroll systems, design and update of internal controls. In 2022, they will become the Chief Financial Officer of Proton Technologies Canada.

Michael Matishak obtained a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta in 1983, majoring in Finance. Michael then went on to obtain their Chartered Professional Accountant designation from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta in 1986. In 2019, they completed the Chief Financial Officers Qualifying exam from the Canadian Securities Institute. Most recently, in 2020, they obtained a Partner, Directors and Senior Officers certification from the Canadian Securities Institute in Investments and Securities.
