James Lavery

James Lavery is a public policy consultant and lawyer with over two decades of experience in the public sector. Currently, they serve as an Expert Advisor at Proximity and as a member of the Board of Directors at Forensicare. Previously, they held significant roles, including Executive Director at the Victorian Department of Transport and Director at KPMG’s national government management consulting practice. James has expertise in public sector organisational design, governance, and policy reform, and has worked alongside senior stakeholders, including Ministers and Chief Executives. They earned a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts from Monash University and Melbourne University.
