Robert Graves

Senior Principal Process Engineer at Prysm Systems

Robert Graves has extensive experience in process engineering, with a focus on coating and drying technologies. Robert started their career at Pratt & Whitney as a Manufacturing Engineering Intern in 1996, followed by an internship at K.J. Quinn as a Chemical Engineering Intern. Robert then joined Hamilton Sundstrand as a Process Engineer in the Materials Engineering Group in 1997.

In 1993, Graves began working at Polaroid as a Chemical Engineering Intern, later transitioning into a Process Development Engineer role. Robert worked on process development and optimization for several years until 2000.

Graves then joined 3M as a Senior Process Engineer, where they were responsible for scaling up mixing, filtration, and thin-film coating processes for optical hard-coats in touch sensors. Robert implemented quality plans, troubleshooting guides, maintenance procedures, training programs, and statistical process control for production.

In 2004, Graves joined Konarka Technologies as a Senior Process Engineer. Robert developed, optimized, and transferred roll-to-roll coating, drying, lamination, and converting processes for organic photovoltaic products from R&D to the Pilot Line. Robert also specified and qualified new Pilot Equipment and assisted in scaling up processes from Pilot to Production.

Graves then worked at Prysm as a Senior Principal Process Engineer, starting in 2012. Robert focused on the development and scale-up of new thin film roll-to-roll processes for laser phosphor display products. Robert optimized coating and drying processes, characterized coating fluids using analytical techniques, design of experiments, and process optimization.

Their most recent role was at Energy Start-up Ventures, where they worked as a Senior Principal Coatings Engineer from 2018 to 2020.

Overall, Robert Graves has a strong background in process engineering and has gained experience in various aspects of coating, drying, and converting technologies throughout their career.

Robert Graves attended the University of New Hampshire from 1992 to 1997, where they earned a Dual Degree in Chemical Engineering (BS) and Chemistry (BS). Robert then pursued further education at the University of Massachusetts Lowell from 1998 to 2000, taking graduate courses in Plastics and Polymer Engineering Technology.
