Michael Thompson, P.E. has a diverse work experience that spans various industries and roles. Michael currently works as a Project Engineer at Psomas since 2021. Prior to this, they were a Civil Engineer and Development Consultant at Kimley-Horn from 2015 to 2021, where they managed multiple projects from design to project close-out, serving as the primary point of contact and providing construction phase support.
Before joining Kimley-Horn, Michael had their own business called Redemption Woodwork from 2013 to 2017, where they crafted and sold woodworking products. Michael combined their engineering design principles with their love for creating innovative items.
Michael also gained valuable experience as a Land Development Engineer Intern at Kimley-Horn in 2014, where they worked on CAD design and analysis programs for various projects. Additionally, they interned as a Project Management Intern at The Walt Disney Company in 2013, managing multiple construction projects and learning the importance of effective communication and teamwork.
During their time at Huitt-Zollars, Inc., Michael worked as a Land Development Engineering Intern from 2011 to 2013, gaining exposure to tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and supporting drainage, roadway, and grading improvement projects. Michael also interned in Geotechnical Engineering at GMU in 2012, where they gained experience in field testing and analysis related to grading, slope stability, and soil analysis.
Michael also had a part-time job as a Busser/Server at Beach Pit BBQ from 2008 to 2011.
Michael Thompson, P.E. obtained their high school diploma from Calvary Chapel High School from 2006 to 2010. Michael then pursued their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Civil Engineering from California State University, Long Beach, completing it from 2010 to 2014. In addition, they hold certifications as a Civil Engineer and Engineer In Training from the State of California.
