William Jorgensen

William Jorgensen has a diverse range of work experience. William is currently serving as the Lead Medicinal Chemist at Psylo since January 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Scientific Advisor at Kinoxis Therapeutics Pty Ltd, where they contributed to the founding of the company by utilizing the intellectual property generated during their PhD. William was also involved in the regulatory approval of therapeutics for CNS disorders.

In addition, Jorgensen has worked as a Coordinator at Matrix Education since October 2014. William also held the position of NHMRC Peter Doherty Fellow at the University of Sydney from January 2019 to January 2022, where they conducted research on pharmaceuticals for psychiatric disorders.

Their previous roles include Medical Writer at Arterial Group | Pharma & Healthcare Marketing from March 2018 to September 2018 and Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Drug Discovery Initiative from December 2016 to February 2018. In these positions, they focused on the development of anti-cancer therapies and facilitation of clinical trials.

Jorgensen's academic background includes earning a Doctorate of Philosophy from the University of Sydney from March 2012 to March 2017. During this time, they conducted extensive research on the discovery of selective non-peptidic oxytocin receptor ligands, resulting in several publications and research patents. William concurrently worked as a Casual Academic, providing instruction and guidance to students.

Prior to pursuing their higher education, Jorgensen gained valuable experience as a Casual Retail Assistant at Better Read than Dead from January 2012 to January 2013 and Coles from January 2008 to January 2012.

William Jorgensen completed their education in the field of chemistry and biomedical sciences. William first pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Organic Chemistry and Pharmacology from the University of Sydney, graduating in 2011 with First Class Honors. Afterward, they enrolled at the same university to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Medicinal Chemistry, which they successfully completed in 2017. In 2017, they also attended a short-term workshop at The University of Tokyo focused on Biomedical Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
