Rose Goslinga is the founder and co-CEO of Pula, an agricultural risk management company that provides insurance and finance solutions to smallholder farmers in Africa and Asia. Prior to founding Pula, Rose worked as a program director for the Syngenta Foundation for Sustainable Agriculture (SFSA) / Kilimo Salama, where they initiated and grew a pilot program with 185 farmers in index insurance to the largest index insurance program in Africa with 185,000 small scale farmers, insuring 9.5mln USD in agricultural inputs.
In their role as an economist at the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources (MINAGRI) Rwanda, Rose developed a business plan for the project to convert to a company and raised hybrid funds for the company totaling 8.5 mln USD, from international donors such as IFC and USAID, and private equity investors. Rose also grew the international operations of the company from Kenya to Rwanda and Tanzania.
Rose has a deep understanding of the agronomic algorithms underlying insurance products and has structured innovative distribution and marketing channels for these products. Rose has also developed and maintained long term sales relationships with large international NGO’s, Multi Nationals,Mobile Network Operators, and Government parastatals.
Rose Goslinga has a Master's Degree from SOAS University of London in Political Economy of Development and a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Amsterdam in Business and Economics with a Minor in International Development.
