Chris Simmons

VP, Clinical Analytics at Pulse 8

Chris provides strategic direction and support for risk adjustment activities. He monitors quality management activities and acts as the liaison with IT regarding data transfer and integrity. Chris is considered an expert in Risk Adjustment and has worked with multiple large group practices to identify internal barriers to adoption and developed strategies to drive improvement in documentation of HCCs, coding, and improving HEDIS quality scores.

Chris brings two decades of clinical experience in medicine in Family Practice, and Urgent Care and has worked in a variety of hospital systems. He is a Navy veteran and a practicing clinician who brings a wealth of clinical knowledge and a unique bedside perspective. He currently serves as Adjunct Clinical Faculty for multiple universities, including the University of North Florida, the University of Florida, and South University. Chris has served as a preceptor and mentored well over 100 aspiring clinicians. As an educator, Chris is well respected within the academic community and previously severed as the Clinical Program Director at the University of Maryland, Graduate School, Family Nurse Practitioner Specialty Track which has consistently rated in the top 10 programs in the country by US News and World Report. He has extensive experience in evidence-based practice initiatives and research. Chris also worked as a consultant to map key clinical indicators used to identify Risk Adjustable conditions.

He is published in the American Journal of Nurse Practitioners and presented at multiple national conferences. Chris received both a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science degree from the University of Maryland.
