Mark Mathieson MBE has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Mark is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Mathwall Group and PurpleSector Ltd since 2019. In the same year, they also joined McLaren Racing as the Lead Partner for McLaren Accelerator. In 2021, Mathieson took on the role of Non Executive Director at Brompton Bicycle and became an Advisory Board Member at StoreDot.
Prior to these positions, Mathieson served as a UK Automotive Council Member and Digital Workstream Lead, starting in 2015. Mark also held the role of Chairman and Owner at Mathwall Engineering Limited since 2007. From 2012 to 2017, they worked as the Chief Engineer Powertrain at McLaren Automotive Limited.
Before joining McLaren, Mathieson worked at Mercedes Benz HPE from 2005 to 2008, where they held the positions of Head of Business Development and Chief Engineer Research. Prior to that, they were the Head of the Formula One Engine Programme at Mercedes-Ilmor from 2002 to 2005.
Mathieson began their career in Ilmor Engineering Ltd in 1997, initially as a Valvetrain Project Engineer and later transitioning to the role of Head of F1 Engine Development from 1999 to 2002.
Mark Mathieson MBE completed their education with a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from Bath Spa University in 1992. Prior to that, they attended the University of Bath to pursue an MPhil in Engine Design and Development from 1992 to 1993. Mark completed their secondary education at Godalming College from 1986 to 1988 and attended Woolmer Hill School from 1982 to 1986.
