Pustakaar is a Hyderabad-based nonprofit founded in 2010, committed to transforming children’s learning journeys through joyful and meaningful reading experiences. At the heart of our work is the belief that access to quality storybooks and thoughtfully designed reading activities can unlock curiosity, critical thinking, and lifelong learning for every child, regardless of their background.

Our core programs include a Mobile Library, which brings leveled storybooks to classrooms and enables children to choose, read, and exchange books weekly; and Volunteer-Led Story Reading, where trained volunteers conduct engaging read-aloud sessions supplemented with activities to build vocabulary, comprehension, and creative thinking.

We also run a Reading Accelerator Program using shared tablets and digital reading tools to support English fluency. Through partnerships, we provide Library Resources to other education organizations and set up Story Stations—permanent libraries in schools without access to books.

Guided by our mission to make reading accessible and joyful, Pustakaar continues to work with schools, volunteers, and partners to create sustainable reading ecosystems that help children become confident, expressive readers.
