Jason Mitchell has a long and varied work history. Jason began their career in 1998 as an IT/Network Administrator at DCI Cheese Company, where they managed file, network, and database servers, accounting systems, and provided general IT support to users while attending school full-time. Jason also designed and managed the system implementation of a new accounting and purchasing system, and assisted the accounting department with entry-level accounting activities. In 2005, Jason became an Oral English Teacher at Jiaxing University & Wenzhou English First, where they independently developed an Oral English curriculum aimed at improving fluency and confidence for Chinese nationals. Jason also guided new teachers with ideas, examples, and guidelines for their lessons, as well as assisted them in adapting and becoming acclimated to a foreign environment. In 2008, Jason became an Audit Manager at Ghaffari Accountancy, Inc., where they managed all aspects of 25 annual audit engagements and worked alongside client personnel to identify key internal controls and processes. Jason also reported on any identified deficiencies or weaknesses and provided recommendations and guidelines for improvement. In 2013, Jason became the EVP of Product/Head of Engineering at AuditFile, where they coordinated product direction, vision, and implementation utilizing Ruby on Rails, Javascript, Memcached, and MySQL built on AWS. Jason also hired, trained, and managed the full development team, including software developers, DevOps personnel, and UI/UX designers, while actively contributing to application direction and development. Finally, in 2015, Jason joined Affirm, Inc. as a Software Engineering Manager, where they spearheaded a new “Cash Tracking & Reconciliation System” to automatically reconcile all loan and merchant servicing money movements, provide cash insights to Accounting & Finance, and workflow tools to manually investigate and resolve any reconciliation breaks. Jason also architected, developed, and launched the “Bank Ledger”, an immutable, correctable, auditable ledger that processes billions of dollars of transactions and stands as the source of truth for all loan activity on the company’s financial statements and custom loan sales system. In 2020, Jason became a Principal Software Engineer at Puzzle.

Jason Mitchell obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree from the Wisconsin School of Business in 2005, majoring in Accounting, Information Systems and Computer Science. In October 2010, they were certified as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) by the California Board of Accountancy.
