Jos van Rij

Jos van Rij currently serves as Fractie voorzitter for PvdA Vlaardingen since March 2024, overseeing the gemeenteraad Vlaardingen. Since August 2019, Jos has also acted as a Steun raadslid and Fractie assistent for PvdA, specializing in public order and safety. Previous roles include serving as a beleidsmedewerker at the staf of Koninklijke Marechaussee from January 2019 to March 2022, where Jos implemented improvements to the Police Data Act and chaired the WPG core team. Jos has extensive experience in the Koninklijke Marechaussee, including positions as a Project Leader, Head of the Intelligence Section for District West, and Deputy District Commander. Jos has also worked as an instructor in police management training in Albania and has a background in firearms investigation, having contributed to the drafting of legislation on weapons and munitions. Educational accomplishments include training as a professional coach and obtaining a higher vocational qualification in project management.
