Giacomo Torlai is currently the Lead Research Scientist at Q-CTRL, specializing in quantum hardware, quantum computing, tensor networks, and machine learning. They served as a Quantum Research Scientist at Amazon Web Services from 2020 to 2025 and held the position of Research Fellow at the Simons Foundation from 2018 to 2020. Giacomo completed a PhD in Physics at the University of Waterloo, having previously earned an MSc from Ludwig-Maximilians Universität München and a BSc from the University of Florence. Their experience includes positions as a Visiting Scientist at various prestigious institutions, including ETH Zurich and Queen’s University Belfast.
