Matthew Stepka

Matthew Stepka has held several roles throughout their career. Matthew is currently a Trustee at the Knight Foundation, where they started in 2023. In 2020, they became a Board Member at Family Zone Cyber Safety. Prior to that, Matthew served as the Managing Partner at Machina Ventures starting in 2017. Matthew also worked as a Lecturer at the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business in 2017. Matthew has also been an Advisor for various companies, including AirCapture starting in 2022 and Akash Systems starting in 2018. Their extensive experience includes working at Google for nine years as the Vice President of Business Operations & Strategy, where they led and incubated strategic initiatives with high social impact. Matthew was also a Trustee at the World Affairs Council of Northern California from 2012 to 2015. Matthew started their career as the General Manager and Vice President of Pharmacy at Drugstore.com from 2005 to 2007. Prior to that, they founded and served as CEO of Big World Travel LLC, an online travel business that launched in 2004.

Matthew Stepka received their Juris Doctorate (JD) degree in Law from the University of California, Los Angeles - School of Law from 1992 to 1995. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Engineering from Case Western Reserve University from 1984 to 1988. Matthew completed their high school education at St. Ignatius from 1980 to 1984 and attended IWA from 1972 to 1980.
