Alexander Doran, Ph.D., is a seasoned professional in the field of engineering and physical chemistry. Currently serving as the Senior Director of Engineering and Head of Software at QSimulate since January 2021, Alexander has held various roles including Senior Software Engineer and Software Engineer. Prior experience includes a position as a Postdoctoral Researcher and Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from August 2014 to December 2020, where Alexander focused on developing Monte Carlo many-body methods. Additionally, Alexander contributed as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and co-chaired the Physical Chemistry Student Select Seminar Committee during the same period. Previously, Alexander was an Undergraduate Research Assistant in the Iyengar lab at Indiana University, studying hydroxy-proxy-isoprenoids through ab initio molecular dynamics simulations. Alexander earned a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Applied Mathematics from Indiana University Bloomington.
