Chris O'Brien

Chris O'Brien is a classical composer and film composer/sound designer with experience in various roles within the music industry. As a self-employed classical composer since September 2020, Chris has contributed to numerous short films as a composer and sound designer, including titles such as "Shedding," "Small Talk," and "Holdspace." A Block Director for WNUR 89.3FM from September 2022 to June 2025, Chris facilitated meetings, engineered audio sessions, and maintained FCC compliance. Additional experience includes stage management and live sound engineering at Northwestern University's Concert Management Office, an internship at Private Island Audio, and contributions to the National Children's Chorus album "Illumine." Chris received a Summer Undergraduate Research Grant to create a modular synthesizer and blend minimal techno with classical music. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Music in Music Composition from Northwestern University, graduating Magna Cum Laude.
