Rita Atwell Phillips, Ph.D., RDH, FADHA, is a seasoned educator with extensive experience in dental hygiene and health education. Currently serving as a Professor at Wytheville Community College since August 2007, Rita teaches didactic, laboratory, and clinical courses for dental hygiene and assisting students. Additionally, Rita has contributed as a Certification-Peer Reviewer for the Quality Matters Program since March 2013 and previously designed a Public Health Career Studies Program curriculum at WCC. Prior roles include Senior Health Educator at the Virginia Department of Health, where Rita managed the School Fluoride Mouthrinse Program and delivered educational programs to elementary school communities. Furthermore, Rita has held faculty positions at the University of Tennessee and East Tennessee State University. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. and MSED in Education from Virginia Tech and a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from Virginia Commonwealth University.
