Stewart Buchan

Stewart Buchan is a seasoned professional in astrophysics and data science, currently serving as Lead Consultant at Quantexa since January 2018, with prior roles including Senior Consultant, Consultant, and Associate Analyst at the same company. Stewart's research focuses on the evolution of massive galaxies, beginning from their formation approximately one billion years post-Big Bang. This research was built on experience gained as a Postgraduate Researcher at the University of Southampton from October 2013 to September 2017. Additionally, experience as a Data Science Fellow at Science to Data Science in August 2016 provided training in commercial data science tools and techniques. Earlier research experience includes studying Cygnus X1 as an Undergraduate Research Fellow at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics from September 2012 to May 2013. Stewart holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Astrophysics and a Master of Physics in Physics with Astrophysics from the University of Southampton.
