Joseph Emerson

Joseph Emerson is a leading expert in quantum computing with extensive experience in both academia and industry. Currently serving as the Head of Quantum Strategy at Keysight Technologies since June 2021, Joseph also holds the position of CEO and Founder at Quantum Benchmark Inc., established in January 2017, which specializes in tools for validation and optimization of quantum processor performance. Joseph has been a Research Scientist at the Institute for Quantum Computing and an Associate Professor at the University of Waterloo since August 2005. Prior experience includes a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Perimeter Institute from September 2003 to August 2005, where Joseph pioneered randomized benchmarking protocols that are now standard in quantum labs. Educationally, Joseph completed a Postdoctoral Researcher program in Quantum Computing at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and earned a Ph.D. in Quantum Physics from Simon Fraser University, in addition to a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics from McGill University.
