Jerry Hung

Member Of Technical Staff, Materials Development at QuantumScape

Jerry Hung has a range of work experience in the field of materials science and engineering. Jerry started as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of Washington, where they synthesized electrolytes and electrode slurries, tested cell performance, and characterized electrodes using SEM/EDS and XRD. Jerry then worked as a Student Researcher at BLUE ORIGIN, where they developed and tested materials for critical structures in a launch vehicle lift system. During this time, they also performed tribology and microstructural testing and effectively communicated their findings to engineering mentors. After that, they joined A123 Systems as an Associate Research Engineer, where they developed cost-effective additives to enhance energy density and cyclability in lithium cells. Jerry also created testing protocols and evaluated electrochemical performance using the MACCOR tester. Currently, Jerry is working at QuantumScape as a Materials Development Engineer. In this role, they evaluate ternary compositions, develops synthesis methods to enhance performance, and conducts material property analysis using various techniques.

Jerry Hung completed an Associate of Science - AS degree in Chemistry from Bellevue College from 2015 to 2018. Following that, from 2019 to 2021, they attended the University of Washington and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Materials Science & Engineering.
