Kim van Berkel

Kim van Berkel has a diverse work experience in the field of research and development. They started their career as a Post-doctoral Research Associate at UC Santa Barbara in 2006 and worked there until 2008. After that, they joined Intermolecular in 2008 as a Senior Member of Technical Staff and remained with the company until 2014. From 2014 to 2017, they worked at QuantumScape as a Principal Member of Technical Staff. They then transitioned to the role of Consulting Member of Technical Staff at QuantumScape from 2017 to 2022. Currently, Kim van Berkel holds the position of Senior Director, R&D at QuantumScape, starting from April 2022.

Kim van Berkel has a strong educational background in Chemistry. From 1997 to 1999, they attended the University of Canterbury and earned a Bachelor of Science with Honors (B.Sc.(Hons)) degree in Chemistry. Following this, from 2000 to 2004, they continued their education at the University of Canterbury and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Chemistry.
