Thomas Arnold

Solid State Battery Engineer at QuantumScape

Thomas Arnold has a diverse work experience in the field of battery engineering. Thomas started their career as an intern at UCSD Mathematics Department in 2013. In 2014, they interned at Imprint Energy, where they gained valuable experience. The following year, they worked as a battery researcher at Shirley Meng, UCSD LESC, focusing on the development of low toxicity, disposable Zn-based batteries. Thomas then joined Primus Power as a Battery Engineering Intern and successfully identified mechanisms for chemical and electrochemical degradation. In 2015, they became a Battery Researcher at Joseph Wang, UCSD Lab for NanoBioElectronics, where they led a project on self-healing, stretchable, wearable batteries. Currently, they are employed as a Solid State Battery Engineer at QuantumScape, where they actively contribute to the advancement of solid-state battery technology.

Thomas Arnold attended UC San Diego from 2012 to 2016. During this time, they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemical Engineering.
