Toshi Sumida is a Research Scientist at QuEL, Inc. since October 2023, focusing on the development of high-performance quantum computer control hardware/middleware and algorithms for quantum error correction for fault-tolerant quantum computers. Previously, Toshi served as an Assistant Professor at Kyoto University from October 2011 to September 2023, conducting research at the ATLAS experiment at the LHC, which included measurement of systematic uncertainties in jet energy scales, searching for supersymmetric particles, studying hardware-based trigger logic for muons, and measuring Higgs production cross sections. Toshi also investigated dark-photons as cold dark matter. Before that, Toshi was a Research Fellow at CERN from October 2008 to September 2011, contributing to performance studies and simulations related to hadron calorimetry and jet production. Toshi earned a PhD in Elementary Particle Physics from Kyoto University in 2008, following a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the same institution in 2001.
