Dirk Englund

Dirk Englund is an accomplished academic and entrepreneur currently serving as an Associate Professor in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science department at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology since January 2013. Englund co-founded QuEra Computing in September 2019, focusing on building scalable quantum computers using cold atoms, and holds the position of Chief Executive Officer at Axiomatic_AI, which began in July 2024. Previously, Englund held academic roles as an Assistant Professor at Columbia University from January 2010 to January 2013 and as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Harvard University. Educational credentials include a Ph.D. in Applied Physics and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, alongside degrees from Caltech and experiences as a Fulbright Fellow in Physics.
