James Basham has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and industries. James currently works as a Senior Software Engineer - Quantum Controls at QuEra Computing Inc. starting from February 2023. Prior to that, they worked at MIT Lincoln Laboratory as a Technical Staff from July 2021 to February 2023. James also held the position of Senior Principle Physicist - Quantum Annealing at Northrop Grumman from September 2017 to July 2021, where they led a team in developing measurement and control infrastructure for a quantum annealer. Before that, they owned Inti PV LLC, where they provided data analysis and published impactful research papers in the field of organic semiconductors. James also worked as a Guest Researcher at NIST from January 2012 to December 2015, collaborating with partners on characterizing novel semiconducting polymers and understanding degradation in OLEDs. James started their career as a Graduate Student in Electrical Engineering at Penn State University from June 2007 to December 2011, researching solid-state dye-sensitized solar cells and working as a Teaching Assistant. James also has an Undergraduate Student experience at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute from August 2003 to May 2007.

James first attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute from 2003 to 2007, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Physics. Following this, James enrolled at Penn State University from 2007 to 2011 to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Electrical Engineering.
