Rick Titball is an Emeritus Professor of Molecular Microbiology with a robust background in molecular bacteriology, focusing on bacterial pathogenicity to enhance vaccines and antibacterial therapies for humans and animals. They have recently engaged in research involving insects as infection models and sources of innovative antimicrobial compounds. Rick's extensive research has garnered funding from prestigious organizations such as the Wellcome Trust and the US National Institutes of Health, resulting in 380 publications and 18 active patents. They served in various academic and research roles at institutions including the University of Exeter and the University of Plymouth, and they currently hold the position of Deputy Editor in Chief for NPJ Vaccines. Rick earned a BSc in Biological Sciences and a PhD in Medical Microbiology and Bacteriology from the University of Plymouth.
