Sven Schmidt

Sven Schmidt has a strong background in software engineering and development. Sven has experience in various industries, including asset integrity management, natural language processing, and geoscience.

In their most recent role as a Software Team Lead at Quest Integrity, Sven was responsible for the architecture and development of asset integrity management software tools. Sven also led the migration of legacy .NET Framework apps to .NET Core and handled TeamCity administration and DevOps work. Prior to this, as a Senior Software Engineer at the same company, they developed engineering solutions in the pipeline integrity industry.

Before joining Quest Integrity, Sven worked as an Advisory Software Engineer at IBM Watson Natural Language Understanding, where they focused on the orchestration component using Elixir. Sven regularly deployed to Kubernetes clusters in IBM's cloud.

Sven also has experience as a Senior Software Engineer and Geoscientist at Schlumberger Information Solutions, where they worked on developing production engineering workflows, implementing splitting logic, and designing message-based services. Additionally, at ANSYS, Inc., Sven was a Software Developer II, specializing in TGrid meshing and implementing workflows using the Scheme programming language.

Throughout their career, Sven has consistently demonstrated a commitment to engineering robust and well-tested code. Sven enjoys sharing their expertise through Lunch & Learn presentations.

Sven Schmidt completed a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science at FernUniversität in Hagen. Prior to that, they pursued a Master of Science in Theoretical Physics from the University of Bremen. Sven then obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Applied Mathematics from Loughborough University. Additionally, they studied as a PhD Visiting Student in Applied Mathematics at the University of Colorado Boulder.
